Statue Fang sick

Superb and large statue in wood and metal, which comes from the Fang ethnic of Gabon

Height: 75 cm, age slits, missing, right foot reglued (see photos)

The Fang statues

Fang statues are almost always reliquary figures that have been separated from their box as it is said here

They are the portrait (in the African sense of the term evocation and not figuration) of the disappeared ancestor whose bones, especially the skull, were grouped in the byéri (reliquary box)

It is above average size and has a very nice oily patina
